Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Seth Grahame-Smith
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
I don't think it had any of the magic of the original, but there were definitely some great things done here . . .
I was surprised with how smoothly zombies were integrated into the story. I also think that the zombies provided a way for some of the less satisfactory characters to meet their ends in a way that the reader of the original always secretly longed for. Such as Mr. Collins, and Wickham. Really well done. It was also interesting to see anger, passion and emotion being expressed in more violent ways by the characters; they did things that you secretly wondered if they wanted to do in the original- a nice blend of the "stuffiness" of the society and the passions and violence of warriors. Pretty well done.
Also, did anyone else laugh at some of the more inappropriate but well disguised parts? That was one of my favorite parts of the book . . . the "i KNEW you were thinking that" and "that's what she said" kind of thing . . .
All that being said, the original is still far superior.
